COVID-19 – CORONAVIRUS – YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
We appreciate that we are living in uncertain times and you will have a lot of questions about how we are dealing with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We’ve answered some common queries below…
IS MY ACCOMMODATION STILL OPEN?
Yes! we are open and welcoming students. Our staff are what makes us great, and our staff remain on hand to provide all residents with a comfortable, clean and secure home. We encourage you to follow the governments advice about staying at home and we like many are hopeful this is for weeks, not months and will update this page if the governments advice changes.
We advise all our tenants to follow the Government Guidelines regarding Social Distancing and our staff are still contactable by phone or email with any queries or concerns, or just for a friendly chat.
DO YOU HAVE A PLAN IN PLACE FOR COVID-19?
Yes! We have an internal plan in place that is under constant review due to the fast changing nature of the current pandemic, this has been approved by UClan who are satisfied with the contingency planning we have in place.
WHAT ABOUT SOCIAL SPACES?
In response to Government recommendations our Social Spaces, Gyms, Cinemas etc are now closed.
As such, we are not holding social events at this time, but we are busy planning some fun virtual events. Plus, our social media pages and blog will be updated regularly with news, tips and ideas on keeping entertained, and more importantly protecting your mental health.
Whilst in the communal areas of the building we ask that you maintain social distancing at all times by keeping 2 meters apart; unnecessary use of communal areas is discouraged.
Please maintain good hygiene standards by washing your hands regularly. For those who share a Kitchen we ask that you clean the areas that you use after preparing food etc, and try not to use the Kitchen at the same time as your flatmates.
We encourage you to download the Wix app, available on the both the Apple & Android app stores. Once downloaded, please create an account and use the invite code G2ZXVK to access our space on the app. You can set up your own chat groups within the Wix app and also keep in contact with the onsite team, we plan to update the app with new content soon.
CAN I END MY TENANCY EARLY?
Whilst Universities and Colleges have moved to online teaching, our building remains open, providing you with a comfortable, safe and welcoming home away from home.
During this rapidly changing environment we are prioritising the welfare of our residents and staff. We are working with our staff to ensure continuity of service to the residents still living in our building, at present our standard cancellation policy still applies, if there are any future changes to our cancellation policy we will ensure our residents are informed. If the situation is causing financial difficulties, we can discus with individuals setting up a personalised repayment plan.
CAN I CANCEL MY UPCOMING BOOKING?
If you have booked for September 2020, our standard cancellation policy applies.
If you have booked a Summer or Short Term stay but are not able to travel to the UK on your Tenancy Start Date due to international travel restrictions or Covid-19 related health issues please contact us via email to discuss.

Many of you will be awaiting further information on what is happening with Exam results, VISAs and of course international travel, however with Brunel Court you can book with confidence.
We operate a 72 hour “cooling off” period up to the 31st July so if your circumstances change you can cancel your booking. Once the “Cooling Off” period has expired, you can cancel your booking if:
– You do not have a visa to enter the UK
– You have not acquired the grades to be offered a place at the chosen university
– You have failed to achieve the grades to continue your study at university
In these uncertain times, we know our residents may be worried about their Student Finance.
Student Finance England are following their standard process for payments and the third semester payment should not be affected at this time. They have confirmed that “students will receive their scheduled or next instalment of their maintenance loan at the planned start of their summer term, regardless of whether their university or provider has made alternative arrangements for teaching.”
More information is available here.
SAAS has continuity measures in place to ensure their services remain functioning and endeavour to continue to fund students on time. More information is available here, and they recommend that students and institutions follow their social media channels for the latest updates.
